I heard on the radio this morning about a group trying to get an initiative petition on the ballot for 2020 to get rid of the personal property tax. Now, before you go into Defcon 4 about your county losing money, know that the average amount of a county budget contributed by the personal property tax runs around 6 or 7% of taxes coming in. It may very well be more or less in your county, but that’s about the average.
And, of course now, we have the Governor’s race heating up. State Auditor Nicole Galloway, an ultra liberal under all those talking points, declared first that she would be running in the governor’s race, and now current Governor Parson has also announced HIS first actual run for Governor (having taken over after Greitens resigned). Former Representative Jim Neely is also running because he wants to “continue to help people.” Politicians who tell me they want to “help people” generally send me running for the hills. Just sayin.’ And I had better stop there or my blood pressure will go way up, since I well know that government and politicians generally only know how to do 2 things well: 1) screw up anything that was working just fine before they came along to “fix” it; and 2) attempt to meddle in your personal and private life as much as WE and YOU will let them get by with.
So here it all is in a nutshell: we need to rein in a destructive and nosey. busybody state government and a bunch of state and district politicians every minute of every day, but we are completely powerless to do so. Well…isn’t that what they would LIKE you to believe!
Shhh! Don’t TELL ANYBODY, but here’s the reality, all you “We The People!” When the legislature is in session, a mere 20 to 30 phone calls to ONE representative, senator, or other officeholder will usually have that office in an uproar. If their legislative assistant or switchboard has to put up with this kind of a phone jam for an hour or more, their heads will start to explode and phone answerers will be pleading with their bosses, “PLEASE, make it STOP!” Government agencies may take a few more than that number of phone calls, but trust me, they ALL hate it when people like us here at the Green Dragon Gazette and one of any of a number of true (i.e.: not “ASTROTURF”) grassroots groups trumpet a call to arms and snitch to the politicians’ constituents EXACTLY what underhanded attacks on our liberties they are attempting to orchestrate…whether it be at the blackmailing of the federal government or just some really stupid stuff our local legislators have sucked out of their thumbs.
And then there is your 5 dollar bill. Yeah, you have it—probably right there in your billfold or purse right now. Guess what that 5 dollar bill can do? It can FUND things YOU like! Here’s a shocker for you: if everyone that voted for Saundra McDowell would have given her just FIVE DOLLARS, she would have had $5.4 MILLION in her war chest and we wouldn’t have to be looking at libtard Galloway’s ugly face right now. If everyone who voted for Representative Mike Moon (winner of the Locke and Smith Award 2 years running now) in the 2018 PRIMARY would now give him $5, he’d have another nearly $20K in his war chest right now. And if everyone who voted for him in the GENERAL election would give him $5, he would have an additional nearly $53K for a total of $73K—close to twice as much as his establishment opponent—you know, the one who used to head the MO GOP about 5 Missouri GOP chairs ago, of which 4 of those 5 were pretty much mere establishment RINOs.
Oh, and if you want rid of the personal property tax? If everyone who voted for U.S. Congressman Lacy Clay would give $5 to the cause of that personal property tax initiative petition group, they would have nearly $1.1M, almost $100K more than the group estimates they would need. Maybe you should look for a few causes, groups and candidates to send a few of your 5 dollar bills to?
